Nessebar is a historical treasury of Bulgaria, and since 1956 it is a "city-museum — archaeological and architectural reserve". Due to its unique historical coloring, in 1983 the city was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Today the old part of the city is an attractive place for romantic walks along the narrow cobblestone streets between the shops offering handmade souvenirs - tableware, knitwear, ornamentals. Magnificent antique atmosphere emphasizes local unique opportunities for rest and recreation. Accommodation is concentrated in family hotels and private apartments, equipped comfortably and tastefully.
An ancient city with a thousand-year history dating back to the end of the Bronze Age is located on a romantic rocky peninsula, connected with land by a narrow isthmus. The peninsula has a length of 850 m and a width of 300 m. There are valuable monuments from all ages of its millennial existence: old fortress walls from the times of the Roman Empire and Middle Ages, Byzantine and ancient Bulgarian churches, old houses of the 18th and 19th centuries.
The sea and mountains, unique sand dunes and rare plant species are the natural feature of this region. The sun heats here 2100-2200 hours a year.
The climate is moderately continental with Mediterranean influence, in summer the average water temperature is 20-26°C, air temperature is 28-30°C.
